Lane Bryant Sizing & Fit Guide: What You Should Know

With more plus size clothing options than ever, it can be difficult to find the correct size when shopping multiple brands. At Lane Bryant, we do our best to take the confusion out of the process. Our plus size size charts and measuring tips make it simple for you to select comfortable and flattering sizes, in any clothing category. For instance with dresses, a size 14 measurement is the result of bust, waist and low hip measurements. Wondering whether that size 14 or a size 16 measurement will be a better fit for your body? You can find out quickly and easily, just by comparing your measurements. We offer guidelines to help you make all your wardrobe choices. If you’re wondering what size jeans to wear, we can assist you in finding the best fit for your body. If you’re looking for new footwear, we’ll help you translate your foot length, foot width and calf measurements into the best shoe size for you. Generally, Lane Bryant clothing sizes range from women's size 10 to 28. Our average lengths are cut for a woman with a height of 5' 6"; short lengths are cut for women 5' 4" or under; and long lengths are cut for women 5' 8" or taller. We also offer plus size petite clothing, extended plus sizes in many clothing categories, and in bras in F, G, and H cups.

Plus Size Fit Charts: Tips for Determining the Best Fit

Finding the most comfortable fit starts with getting accurate measurements, then checking our plus size size charts to determine how various sizes and lengths will translate to your measurements. It’s not difficult, but it’s also not as simple as just checking out a waist size chart, or looking for pant size in inches. For example, the best way to determine what size of pants, capris or shorts you need corresponds to your waist and low hip measurements, then factoring in your height to determine petite, short, regular or long length. The best way to get an accurate waist size for women is to measure around the full part of your natural waistline, after bending to one side to find the natural crease, then straightening. To get an accurate low hip measurement, stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hip. Look on the chart to find the number size that matches up with your measurement for the low hip and waist size in inches, then determine the proper length based on how tall you are.

If you’d rather not mess with measurements, we can assist in-store with selections. If your measurements include a 42-inch bust, a 36-inch waist and a 44.5-inch low hip, you know you’re looking for a size 14 sweater. If you’re on the fence between two sweater sizes, choose the smaller size for a tighter fit, and the larger size for a looser fit. If you’re wondering about skirts, say a size 14, in inches you are looking at about a 36inch waist and 44.5 inches around the low hip. It’s the same general process for jackets, pants, capris and shorts, activewear, dresses and skirts, plus tights, leggings and footwear, all here, all easy to understand. Plus, though it’s not on this page, we also have a very detailed tutorial if you’re questioning how to measure for a bra, so that you’re getting the all-day comfort and support you want.
